Getting sweaty with the Vikings at St John's Primary

Saturday the 13th of June saw parents and friends of St John’s CE Primary School get hot and sweaty in viking spirit, in aid of Great Ormond’s Street Hospital Charity and the school’s Parents Association.

Between 8am and 4pm, 36 parents rowed for a total of 24 hours to raise funds and fitness levels ahead of the school’s team taking part in the Dragon Boat festival in September.

Whilst the annual festival, held at Bewl Water, is very popular, the team is keen to raise awareness of it and increase numbers sponsoring and attending. Karen Slade, Deputy Head at the school says, “it’s a fabulous day out, huge amounts of fun. I have it easy banging the drum at the front of the boat, where I have a great view of the parents working hard to raise funds for the school!”

We’d like to thank the Dragon Boat team, friends, family, Skinners Kent Academy and Be Interactive for their time and support.
